Ac Dc Bedeutung

Since the 1970s, the Australian outfit has been doing their own, blues-rocky thing like a steadily advancing train fueled by awesome riffs. While even Encyclopedia Britannica might be unsure whether they're heavy metal or rock 'n' roll, their virtually unchanging, yet deceptively well-crafted sound has stood the test of time. The machine may have been fronted by singers ranging from Bon Scott and Brian Johnson to Axl Rose, but the sound has endured.

With Angus Young's horn signs and the band's copious Hell's Bells imagery, it's easy to believe that the biggest controversies regarding AC/DC might have been of the devil-worshiping variety. However, as Mark Beech's book, The Dictionary of Rock & Pop Names

Tells us, that wasn't always the case. Back in the day, it seems that one of the most curious things about the band was actually ... their name. What does it really mean?

AC/DC, as any electrician would be happy to tell you after a long sigh and a head shake, is a less than devilish name. In fact, it's the abbreviation of Alternating Current/Direct Current, which means that the electrical device in question can use both types of power. Beech writes that, reportedly, AC/DC guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young spotted the letters on a household appliance — thought to be either a sewing machine or a vacuum cleaner — and filed them under cool band names, with the idea that the term was the perfect summation of the band's energy.

Unbeknownst to the band, however, was the fact that AC/DC was also a slang term for bisexuality. According to Martin Huxley's book, AC/DC: The World's Heaviest Rock

This caused some pretty interesting misunderstandings during the group's early career. While they initially denied that their band name had any sexual undertones, they eventually just rolled with it. In fact, they even got a few extra gigs because of their name, seeing as they were booked to play at several gay-themed events.AC/DC (stylised as ACϟDC) are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by Scottish-born brothers Malcolm (rhythm guitar) and Angus Young (lead guitar). AC/DC underwt several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage (1975). Membership subsequtly stabilised around the Young brothers with Bon Scott (lead vocals), Mark Evans (bass) and Phil Rudd (drums). Evans was fired from the band in 1977 and replaced by Cliff Williams, who has since appeared on every album since Powerage (1978). Sev months after the release of the band's breakthrough album Highway to Hell (1979), Scott died of alcohol poisoning and the other members considered disbanding.

Their first album with Johnson, Back in Black (1980), was dedicated to Scott's memory. It was a widespread success, launching the band to new heights and becoming the second best-selling album of all time.

The band's eighth studio album, For Those About to Rock (1981), was their first album to reach number one in the United States. Prior to the release of their next album, Flick of the Switch (1983), Rudd left the band and was replaced by Simon Wright, who was himself replaced by Chris Slade six years later. The band expericed a commercial resurgce in the early 1990s with the release of their 12th studio album The Razors Edge (1990); it was their only album to feature Slade, who was replaced by the returning Rudd in 1994. Rudd has since recorded five more albums with the band, starting with Ballbreaker (1995). Their 15th studio album Black Ice was the second-highest-selling album of 2008 and their biggest chart hit since For Those About to Rock, evtually reaching No. 1 worldwide.

In its early days, most members of the band dressed in some form of glam or satin outfit. On stage, Evans was occasionally replaced by the band's first manager, Dnis Laughlin, who was the original lead singer with Sherbet. In Paul Stning's book AC/DC: Two Sides To Every Glory it was stated that Evans did not get along with Laughlin, which also contributed to the band's bitter feeling toward Evans.

The band's logo was designed in 1977 by Gerard Huerta. It first appeared on the international version of Let There Be Rock.

Malcolm and Angus Young developed the idea for the band's name after their sister, Margaret Young, saw the initials AC/DC on the AC adapter of a sewing machine. AC/DC is an abbreviation meaning alternating currt/direct currt electricity. The brothers felt that this name symbolised the band's raw ergy, power-driv performances of their music.

The AC/DC band name is stylised with a high voltage sign separating the AC and DC and has be used on all studio albums, with the exception of the international version of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.

By the middle of 1974, the band had built up a strong live reputation, which led to a support slot for the visiting Lou Reed. Sometime in 1974, on the recommdation of Michael Chugg, veteran Melbourne promoter Michael Browning booked the band to play at his club, the Hard Rock. He was not pleased with their glam rock image and felt that Evans was the wrong singer for the band, but was impressed by the Young brothers' guitar playing. Shortly afterward, he received a call from the band; Laughlin had quit as manager, and they were stuck in Adelaide with no money. Browning agreed to bail them out and booked them for another gig at the Hard Rock. Following the gig, they agreed to take him on as their new manager, with the co-operation of their older brother George and Harry Vanda.

The Young brothers decided to abandon the glam rock image which had already be adopted by Melbourne band Skyhooks and pursue a harder blues-rock sound. To this d, they agreed that Evans was not a suitable frontman for the group.
